The Adventure Gear You Need for Your Camping Trip
Camping is a wonderful way to get back to nature and strengthen those family bonds. Camping is a great alternative to boring trips where you stay in bad hotels and eat bland dishes at Applebee’s. Seriously, who wouldn’t choose super-fresh grilled trout and a can of beans over the riblet plate with fries?
When planning a family camping trip, there are a few things you need to do. First of all, you need to decide what type of camping trip you want to experience. There are several ways to camp including using an RV, backpacking and tent camping. Once a consensus has been reached, you then need to get the necessary adventure gear from Quantum Pride.
There are many people who readily admit they sleep much better when they are on a camping trip. It must be all of that fresh air. But even if you do get better sleep while camping, you are going to need the proper sleeping gear. You aren't going to sleep well using a rock as a pillow.
The type of sleeping bag you get depends largely on your personal preference and just how cold it is going to be at night. There is nothing worse than spending the night in a sleeping bag not suited for how cold it gets.
That being said, if you will be camping in the fall, winter or spring, make sure you get a sleeping bag that will keep you toasty warm even if the temperature drops to zero. It’s much better to aim really low than freeze to death at night.
If you are afraid of the dark and things that go bump in the woods at night, you might want to consider a double sleeping bag. This way, your spouse is right there to protect you.
Eating and Drinking
Eating around the campfire is one of the best parts about the camping experience. But if you are going to cook over a fire, you will need a few basic supplies. You might think a frying pan is all you need to cook those trout you caught, but you would be wrong.
Unless you have some serious cooking skills and can flip those trout with a flick of your wrist, you will also need a good spatula.
If campfire cooking just isn't your thing, that’s fine, we won’t judge. But you will need a way to cook your food like in the form of a camp stove or a grill.
It doesn't matter how you choose to cook your food, just make sure you bring plenty of matches.
You can’t expect to just wear shorts, a t-shirt and a pair of flip-flops when you go camping, you need all of the right gear.
Let’s start things off on the right foot by investing in a great pair of hiking shoes. There are many types to choose from, depending on how you plan on using them. Some things to consider when choosing a pair of shoes for camping is how far you plan on hiking, weather conditions and comfort.
It is difficult to have fun camping if you are not dressed for the occasion. If you are too hot or too cold, your camping experience will be miserable. When shopping for camping clothing, think layers. If you get cold, you can add a layer and when you get too hot, peel off a layer.
And don’t forget to pack rain gear because if you don’t, it will rain for sure.
Plenty of Light
Some people go camping and have the wrong idea that a campfire is all the light they need. They might bring a flashlight, but fail to bring backup batteries.
When shopping for camping gear, make sure you buy a variety of light sources and plenty of batteries. Flashlights are essential, but you should also have a lantern or some sort of stationary light.
For those of you who do not know this; duct tape can fix just about anything. No kidding, look it up when you get a chance.
